ReDefining the American Dream 2.0I am a 16 year old student in high school, trying to figure out where I want to go to college and what I want to major in. In the beginning of the project we were asked to close our eyes and think of our ideal house, family, car, and job. Many of the students in my classroom ideally said they wanted big mansions and fast luxury cars. Then came the reality check, we reviewed the wealth inequality among Americans. After learning about this questions like, "Are we owning or borrowing our American Dream?", arose. For the course of this project we were to interview someone and ask about their coming of age, and what their American Dream was and or is. With this we were to create a four page biography that included their journey and some history during the time they came of age, then later relating it back to the story of the person they interviewed. Not only did we write about another persons' American Dream, we also got the chance to write about our own American Dream. The final product was to create a book including 50 stories of the American Dream of the people that were interviewed by the students, this along our own Self Reflections of our American Dream was included in the book.
