The House on Mango Street.
The House on Mango Street by Sandra Ciseneros is about a young girl, Esperanza that lives in a poor Latino barrio. This novella is a coming of age book. Through out this book Esperanza gains confidence as she grows, she also become a self relying women unlike the women on Mango Street that she encounters. In my opinion this book is great. I believe that the author really capture the way of Esperanza's thinking, it also teaches the audience how much you can learn from others mistake and accomplishments.

Sammy and Juliana in Hollywood.
Sammy and Juliana by Benjamin Alire Saenz is the male perspective of The House on Mango Street. The main character, Sammy goes through many disappointments in life. Through out the book the reader see how he becomes a stronger man by, all the obstacles he experiences. One of these obstacle is Juliana's death, Julianna is the girl Sammy falls deeply in love. Also other obstacles like losing his friends to war make him into the strong man he is. Even though he has to go through these obstacles he never gives up on his dreams. In personal opinion, I like how the other gives real life obstacles that Sammy has to go through. By giving these real life obstacles the reader can relate to the characters in this book. It also teaches the reader not to give up, even though life will throw curve ball at you.
